Behavioral Health Technician Program I

CU206-300 Behavioral Health Technician I:  HYBRID COURSE -THURSDAYS 6:30-9PM (ONLINE) and SATURDAYS 9a-12P (Wellesley Campus IN PERSON) Behavioral Health Technician I certificate is designed to train students in how to work inclusively in fields of mental illness and wellness, education, public safety, family and youth development, community and family support. Training for this certificate is divided into three areas of competency.  First students study foundations in human behavior.  Second, they study and participate in intensive de-escalation and social communication training.  Finally, students complete Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification as part of their certificate.  Additional certifications are completed in this training.

CU158-300 Home Health Aide and Hospice Training:

HYBRID COURSE

WEDNESDAYS 6PM to 9PM (ONLINE) and SATURDAYS 4PM to 6pm (Framingham Campus IN PERSON)

The course is recommended for CNA’s who want to be trained to work in home health agencies or carry out hospice services. In addition to helping patients with dressing, bathing and hygiene, home health aides make sure their clients are safe in their homes, provide light cleaning and day to day tasks like cooking.  Hospice understands the process of death and dying and the special process of palliative care.   This student learns how to keep a patient comfortable with many wholistic techniques like massage, essential oils, music and light and sounds. This class meets on Wednesdays remotely and in-person on the Framingham Campus on the following Saturdays:  June 1, June 8, June 15, and June 29. 

ESL Advanced

AP125-300 ESL Advanced: This course is intended for students who have completed the Intermediate course or have a high intermediate to advanced level of English.  The course will focus on building skills in reading, writing, grammar and advanced vocabulary for everyday life or academic study.   The classes will offer practice through a variety of activities, including class discussions, oral presentations, small group work and individual assignments.

The focus will be to build a practical English vocabulary and understanding of basic grammar structures to communicate in everyday life. Class activities will give students practice in conversational English as well as reading and writing.

Medical Interpreter Program

CU163-300 Medical Interpreter Program:  Open to all languages, this 60-hour program provides working knowledge of medical interpreting, including standards of practice, ethics, HIPAA regulations, cultural competency, and medical terminology/vocabulary. Offered in collaboration with TransFluenci EDU, this course is designed for those preparing for entry-level careers as medical interpreters as well as for working interpreters preparing for the National Board Certificate exam.  Students must be fully bilingual and must be fluent in English and one other language. This program meets the National Board for Medical Interpreter Certification training requirement and prepares you to pass the national certification exam. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion from the college and may elect to apply for national certification. Certification fees are not included. Students must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Because a language assessment is required, students must register at least two weeks in advance.

AP152-300:  The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of nonnative speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings.  A high TOEFL score is required by most US colleges and universities for admission of international and ESL students. TOEFL Preparation will prepare you to take the new IBT (Internet-based) TOEFL test. In this class you will study each of the four required sections: writing, reading, speaking and listening. You will learn what to expect on the test and practice answering questions similar to those that actually appear on the test.

CompTIA A+ Bootcamp

This course is an intensive study period for the The CompTIA A+ Core Series - two exams: Core 1 (220-1101) and Core 2 (220-1102) covering the following new content, emphasizing the technologies and skills IT pros need to support a hybrid workforce:

·        How to remotely diagnose and correct common software, hardware or connectivity problems

·        Evolving core technologies from cloud virtualization and IoT device security to data management and scripting

·        Multiple operating systems, when to use them and how to keep them running properly

HYBRID COURSE - WEDNESDAY 6PM-9PM (ONLINE) and SATURDAYS 4PM-6PM (Framingham Campus IN PERSON)

This course is recommended for CNAs who want to receive special training for memory care patients. The student will gain a deeper understanding of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. They will learn to manage changes in behavior, understand the principles of safety and learn to work with the patient in managing their medication. Lastly, students will learn how to maintain a safe environment for their patient and how to manage emergencies.
