Fall 2026 Caring for Hospice Patients Workshop

This workshop is designed for caregivers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge in providing compassionate care for hospice patients and their families. Participants will explore the unique needs of individuals facing terminal illness and learn best practices for delivering holistic support. Key topics include: Understanding hospice care - overview of the hospice philosophy, goals of care, and the role of hospice in the continuum of healthcare; Communication skills - techniques for effective communication with patients and families, including active listening and addressing difficult conversations about death and dying; Emotional and spiritual support - strategies for providing comfort and support, recognizing the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones; Pain and symptom management - introduction to common symptoms in hospice care and methods for effective pain relief and symptom management and Caring for families - insights into supporting family members during the end-of-life journey, including coping strategies and resources available to them. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the skills and confidence to provide compassionate, patient-centered care, fostering dignity and comfort for hospice patients and their families during a critical time.

Virtual Lectures: Thursday, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm | 10/08/2026 - 10/29/2026 (Webex)

In-person Lab: Saturday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm | 10/31/2026 - 10/31/2026 (Offsite)

Payment plan available: $100 deposit plus 5 payments of $56.00, paid every four weeks.

Fall 2026 Behavioral Health Technician Program I

Behavioral Health Technician I certificate is designed to train students in how to work inclusively in fields of mental illness and wellness, education, public safety, family and youth development, community and family support. Training for this certificate is divided into three areas of competency. First students study foundations in human behavior. Second, they study and participate in intensive de-escalation and social communication training. Finally, students complete Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification as part of their certificate. Additional certifications are completed in this training.

Fall 2026 Certified Damage Appraisal Apprenticeship

Certified Damage Appraisal Apprenticeship: This is a six-week course that prepares students for Part II of the MA Automobile Damage Appraisers License Exam and fulfills the Massachusetts three-month apprenticeship requirement. The course will focus heavily on the preparation of an estimate and skills to interact with clients. Instructor is ICAR Platinum certified and has more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive industry, including 16 years of management and appraisal experience.

HVAC&R Certificate Program

HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration) Certificate Program at MassBay Community College prepares students for high-demand careers in residential and commercial HVAC&R installation, maintenance, and repair. Students gain hands-on training in refrigeration and air conditioning principles, EPA safety regulations, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, gas and electric heating systems, and more.The program also includes training in welding, plumbing, ductwork, and preparing for the Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License and EPA certification. Day and evening options are available, with credit and non-credit pathways offered through Corporate Partnerships and Workforce Development.
