Course Overview: The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Training Program is designed to equip aspiring healthcare professionals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to provide compassionate and competent care to patients in various healthcare settings. Taught by experienced and knowledgeable instructors, this comprehensive course combines Webex remote classroom instruction, in-person laboratory practice, and clinical experience at a long-term care facility.
CNAs are vital healthcare team members, performing hands-on care for patients, residents, and clients of all ages and abilities. Students are prepared for the Massachusetts Nurse Aide Competency Exam in just eight weeks.
Graduates of CNA Training Programs can find employment working with patients of all ages in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, nursing homes, home health, assisted living facilities, schools, medical offices, and as travel CNAs.
This certification is a foundation for further education and advancement in other health professional careers.
In this 120-hour certificate program, students will
● Understand the role and responsibilities of a CNA
● Gain proficiency in basic nursing skills such as patient hygiene, mobility assistance, and vital signs
● Understand the principles of infection control and safety procedures
● Ensure comfort and dignity while assisting with activities of daily living
● Gain effective communication techniques to work with patients, families, and other healthcare personnel
● Be well prepared to sit for the state certification exam and meet the requirements for employment as a CNA
Accreditation/ Certification (there is no licensure for CNAs)
Program graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to sit for the Massachusetts State Nurse Assistant Certification Exam. Mass Bay’s Nurse Assistant program is approved by the Department of Public Health Approval # N3NB

Summer 2025 ELL Tuesday and Thursday (All levels)

ELL Advanced: This course is intended for students who have completed the Intermediate course or have a high intermediate to advanced level of English. The course will focus on building skills in reading, writing, grammar and advanced vocabulary for everyday life or academic study. The classes will offer practice through a variety of activities, including class discussions, oral presentations, small group work and individual assignments.
ELL Intermediate: This course is designed for students who have completed the Beginner course or who have a basic foundation in English. The course will focus on building and improving English grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills for communicating in everyday situations. The reading activities focus on comprehension and critical thinking skills. Activities include class discussions, group work and individual assignments.
ELL Beginner: This course is intended for students with limited English language skills. The focus will be to build a practical English vocabulary and understanding of basic grammar structures to communicate in everyday life. Class activities will give students practice in conversational English as well as reading and writing.
Note: New students will need placement test on the first date to place into Advanced class, or Intermediate class, or Beginner class
Summer 2025 Automotive Damage Appraisal Adjuster

Summer 2025 Certified Damage Appraisal Course

Automotive Damage Appraisal Course: Part I - Claims professionals, auto body technicians and others are trained for the Massachusetts Automobile Damage Appraisers License Examination. The course includes in- depth discussion of insurance regulations, policy arbitration, and work completion forms, use of Flat Rate Manuals, collision diagnosis, cost estimation and preparation of written estimates. Instructor is ICAR Platinum certified and has more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive industry, including 16 years of management and appraisal experience.
Summer 2025 TEAS Prep

CU134 TEAS Prep: The ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is required for entrance into many Nursing and Allied Health Programs nationally, including MassBay Community College. The TEAS preparation class at MassBay is comprised of intensive classes in math and science with the reading and grammar built into the classes.

Summer 2025 Behavioral Health Technician Program I

Behavioral Health Technician I certificate is designed to train students in how to work inclusively in fields of mental illness and wellness, education, public safety, family and youth development, community and family support. Training for this certificate is divided into three areas of competency. First students study foundations in human behavior. Second, they study and participate in intensive de-escalation and social communication training. Finally, students complete Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification as part of their certificate. Additional certifications are completed in this training.

Summer 2025 Home Health Aide Training

Course Overview: Mass Bay's Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program is designed to further the skills of Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) by preparing them to deliver exceptional in-home care. This bridge program builds on the core competencies gained in the CNA training, providing students with the specialized knowledge needed to assist clients with daily living tasks, promote independence, and improve overall quality of life in a home setting.
Course Objectives:
- Master advanced caregiving techniques, including personal care, nutrition, and household management.
- Develop effective communication strategies for working with clients, their families, and healthcare providers.
- Learn safety and emergency protocols to ensure a secure home environment.
- Build upon the skills and knowledge gained from your CNA program.
- Understand infection control measures and health monitoring specific to home care
Certification: Upon successfully completing the program, students will meet the certification requirements for Home Health Aides in Massachusetts. This certification enables graduates to provide care in home settings under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.
Prerequisites:
- Successful completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) course
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Physical ability to perform Home Health Aide duties
Career Opportunities: Graduates of the HHA Training Program are prepared to work with home healthcare agencies, hospice services, assisted living facilities, and private clients. The certification also serves as a foundation for further education and career advancement in the healthcare field.
