Spring 2025 ELL Tuesday and Thursday (All levels) 8WII

ELL Advanced: This course is intended for students who have completed the Intermediate course or have a high intermediate to advanced level of English. The course will focus on building skills in reading, writing, grammar and advanced vocabulary for everyday life or academic study. The classes will offer practice through a variety of activities, including class discussions, oral presentations, small group work and individual assignments.
ELL Intermediate: This course is designed for students who have completed the Beginner course or who have a basic foundation in English. The course will focus on building and improving English grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills for communicating in everyday situations. The reading activities focus on comprehension and critical thinking skills. Activities include class discussions, group work and individual assignments.
ELL Beginner: This course is intended for students with limited English language skills. The focus will be to build a practical English vocabulary and understanding of basic grammar structures to communicate in everyday life. Class activities will give students practice in conversational English as well as reading and writing.
Was $300, $195 is covered by grant
Note: New students will need placement test on the first date to place into Advanced class, or Intermediate class, or Beginner class
Location: We will have the placement test on the 1st date of class. Please come to the main lobby to check in.
Spring 2025 Behavioral Health Technician Program I

Behavioral Health Technician I certificate is designed to train students in how to work inclusively in fields of mental illness and wellness, education, public safety, family and youth development, community and family support. Training for this certificate is divided into three areas of competency. First students study foundations in human behavior. Second, they study and participate in intensive de-escalation and social communication training. Finally, students complete Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification as part of their certificate. Additional certifications are completed in this training.

Saturdays (4/12; 4/26; 5/3; 5/10): Deescalation, CPR training (time: TBD)

Spring 2025 Certified Damage Appraisal Apprenticeship

Certified Damage Appraisal Apprenticeship: This is a six-week course that prepares students for Part II of the MA Automobile Damage Appraisers License Exam and fulfills the Massachusetts three-month apprenticeship requirement. The course will focus heavily on the preparation of an estimate and skills to interact with clients. Instructor is ICAR Platinum certified and has more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive industry, including 16 years of management and appraisal experience.
Spring 2025 TEAS Prep (April)

CU134 TEAS Prep: The ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is required for entrance into many Nursing and Allied Health Programs nationally, including MassBay Community College. The TEAS preparation class at MassBay is comprised of intensive classes in math and science with the reading and grammar built into the classes.

In this 8-week course, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue certification in various CompTIA IT certifications.
Summer 2025 Beginning Communication in Portuguese

This engaging course is designed for individuals interested in developing foundational skills in Portuguese communication. Whether for personal enrichment, travel, or professional purposes, this course provides a supportive environment for learners at all levels. Key topics include: Basic vocabulary and phrases - introduction to essential words and phrases for everyday conversations, including greetings, introductions, and common expressions; Pronunciation and listening skills - techniques for improving pronunciation and understanding spoken Portuguese through listening exercises and interactive practice; Basic grammar concepts - overview of fundamental grammar rules, including sentence structure, verb conjugation, and common grammatical pitfalls; Conversational practice - opportunities for participants to engage in guided dialogues and role-playing activities to build confidence in speaking and comprehension and Cultural insights - exploration of cultural nuances and practices in Portuguese-speaking countries to enhance understanding and communication. Participants will leave the workshop equipped with practical language skills and the confidence to engage in basic conversations in Portugues, setting the stage for further language learning and cultural exploration.
