In the IT Literacy for Career Placement Class, students will receive a comprehensive overview of the IT sector. Our curriculum begins with foundational IT concepts using the Google IT support platform, subsequently advancing to encompass general knowledge topics that will equip students for various CompTIA certifications, including A+, Network+, and Security+.
Spring 2025 Basic Computer and Digital Literacy (Saturday - 8WII)

This course is designed for individuals seeking to build foundational computer skills and enhance their digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world. Ideal for beginners or those looking to refresh their knowledge, the course will cover essential topics in a supportive and hands-on environment. Key areas of focus include: Computer Fundamentals -introduction to computer hardware and software, operating systems, and basic troubleshooting techniques; Navigating the internet - skills for effective web browsing, conducting searches, and evaluating online information for credibility and relevance; Essential software applications - overview of commonly used software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools, with hands-on practice; Digital communication - best practices for using email, messaging apps, and video conferencing tools to communicate effectively in personal and professional contexts and Online safety and privacy - understanding digital security, recognizing online threats, and learning how to protect personal information. Through engaging activities, group discussions, and real-world applications, participants will leave the workshop with the confidence and skills needed to navigate the digital landscape effectively, empowering them for personal and professional growth.
